Services

Lifecycle’s services include care from a team of certified nurse midwives, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners. Moreover, care includes prenatal and birth care, gynecological care, comprehensive lactation support, classes, workshops, and support groups.

The Birth Center at Lifecycle is the first licensed birth center in Pennsylvania and one of the oldest operating birth centers in the country. It has welcomed over 13,000 babies. Patients enjoy the highest level of personal care in a family-centered environment. Through Lifecycle’s partnership with Bryn Mawr Hospital, they also offer hospital births. Clients receive continuous care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum.

The midwifery model of care at Lifecycle allows for exceptional outcomes, including fewer c-sections, a faster return home, and higher breastfeeding rates. Lifecycle also encourages skin-to-skin contact immediately following birth, allowing parents to bond with their new baby. Skin-to-skin time helps a baby breathe better, regulate their body temperature, and ensure glucose stability for the baby.

Specialty

Lifecycle offers compassionate care and personalized attention for patients and families who have experienced miscarriage or loss. There are a multitude of local and community resources that Lifecycle practitioners can connect families with to help them work through their grief.

In addition to support groups, Lifecycle offers several prenatal classes and workshops to prioritize health education and counseling. There is a free informational seminar available to new patients and many prenatal classes designed to prepare families for labor, postpartum recovery, and lactation. There is even a Childbirth Refresher course for families expecting their second or third (or more) baby.

Lifecycle also offers mindfulness-based childbirth and parenting classes. Having a baby is a transformational, meaningful experience, and mindfulness extends many benefits to parents. These nine-week classes are based on Jon Kabat Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction curriculum.

Lactation services at Lifecycle support new parents through many lactation issues, including low milk supply, latch, or pumping issues. Both in-person and virtual appointments are available for lactation support so families can access convenient care.
